Bam, Noel and Knox have been named in the FBI probe. Looks like the sports agency being investigated gave "loans" to Bam and Noel and paid for a meal for Knox.

This could really affect the NCAA tourney. If they have evidence and can prove a current player from taking benefits, they will be immediately ineligible. Here are a few players taking benefits. Notice they didn't mention any Puke players although they are on the FBI school list.

I was afraid of this. I am sure UK will get nailed, while Duke and UNC will have little to nothing happen. Everyone should just use UNC's defense and say that since this isn't an athletic issue it doesn't involve the NCAA. It's a business loan and doesn't involve athletics so NCAA needs to stay out.

Carter appears to be mentioned in the same light as Knox - they may have excepted a meal. Knox will get the death penalty while Carter will skate free. [Wink]

JMO, what it should do is open it so players can get paid. Everyone makes money in this billion dollar industry other than those who are directly responsible for putting the product on the floor.

The FBI will investigate cases like these with every last breath, but when it comes to investigating a Florida teen, who murdered 17 people, they do nothing. Go figure.

I watched Cal’s statement. In my opinion, he didn’t look very confident. Kept looking over his shoulder at DeWayne Peevy to see what he could say and couldn’t say.

I’m not sure how this all will go down after seeing that exchange.

I think anyone which follows NCAA football and basketball comprehends the shady factors involved with recruiting individuals. The schools, sports networks and shoe companies are making a boat load of money! Meanwhile, the FBI and DOJ are dragging their feet on corrupt politicians, especially the ones inside their own agency.

I watched the Cal interview and did not feel he looked overly uncomfortable with the situation. I assume Knox will play tonight but if he doesn't, we may have a problem.

What it should do is open it so that kids go to college for an education while basketball is secondary. Eliminate recruiting and scholarships, and if a kid goes to college he cannot enter the NBA until four years have elapsed. If a kid has plans to play in the NBA, enter the D-league right out of high school. Put a cap on coaches salaries so that they make the same at college professors.

College sports should not be a stepping stone for the NBA.

College sports are extracurricular activities that were turned into million dollar industries ruled by greed and corruption. Get rid of it all and if this means D-1 basketball teams turn into D3 teams, I can live with that.

Like it or not NCAA Athletics is a Multi-Billion dollar business and the only people not getting a piece of it are the players: Universities get revenue, coaches get paid, TV gets paid, advertisers make millions, etc, etc, etc.

That is not changing, so change it so the people responsible for the product on the floor can get paid.

I do agree that kids should be able to go directly to the Pro's, but that is an NBA rule not a collegiate rule and I don't think the NBA Players association is planning on negotiating that anytime soon.

I understand your scenario, but the world of collegiate sports has changed over the last 40 years, but the players still live with antiquated rules. It's a bunch of BS in my mind. It's like saying hey we now have 4K TV's, but our rules in Indiana say you can only have a black and white, tube TV in your house. Or hey we have these things called cell phones, but you are only allowed to have a pager.

I don't think legitimate paying of players is the answer to stop cheating in college athletics. There will still be people and institutions who will pay more than the allotted amount to elite athletes and athletes who will gladly accept more than their teammates. Hard to stop cheaters from cheating.

Based on the recent events, turns out the players are getting paid.

And NCAA athletics should not be a business. That's exactly what needs to change in order to fix this mess.
