Stoops and his staff are doing a fantastic job of recruiting and it's starting to show on the field of play.

After selling the message about the future of Kentucky football, assistant coach and recruiting guru Vince Marrow now knows recruits are “seeing the reality” of what is happening with the program.

“Pretty soon we had to start showing improvement. Don’t get me wrong. We are not into moral victories,” said Marrow referring to UK’s 36-30 triple overtime loss at Florida. “I told some coaches after the game that this was huge.

“I have had a lot of kids call me, direct message me,” Marrow said. “They can see what we are preaching now. It was big.

“Not to take shots at anybody else, but we are building a program. We have spent a year with guys in our system and ou can see the improvement. Our offense has improved. That last drive at Florida we had four redshirt freshmen in the game and three true freshmen plus a redshirt sophomore quarterback.

“When you are selling people, if they do not see improvement they will not believe. But we could have played better. We left a lot of plays out there.”

Marrow, who is also UK’s tight ends coach, remembers being with the Buffalo Bills when that team was used to losing like Kentucky did when it went 2-10 in 2012 and 2013. (Coach) Marv Levy came in, started winning and went to four straight Super Bowls. The process here is going where we need, but make no mistake, we should have won that game.”

Marrow is not saying UK is ready to play in four straight SEC championship games, but he knows playing well at Florida was important to show that the highly-touted recruiting classes of the last two years can move Kentucky’s program forward.

If they keep up the effort, they could win 5 games or even 6, by beating the Cards at the end of the season. If they do, the recruiting should be even better than last year.

Boom, You got that right, if we could win the Louisville game it would be the icing on the cake.
