He is going to get his chance and once he gets it he will make us proud.

Drew Barker not only helped put together Kentucky’s 2014 recruiting class, but he graduated early from Conner High School so he could enroll at Kentucky in December, 2013, and go through spring practice in hopes of becoming the starting quarterback as a true freshman.

However, Barker didn’t win the job over Patrick Towles and is now destined for a redshirt year barring injuries to Towles and backup Reese Phillips. But he’s still making his presence felt at UK.

“Drew is just taking it day by day. He has been keeping his faith strong and still being a leader for our team,” said freshman running back Mikel Horton. “People still hang out with him and look up to him. He’s still one of the best quarterbacks I know. No one is questioning his talent just because he is not playing and he is still doing everything he can to help this team win. That’s just the kind of guy he is and people will see in the future just how good that he is.”
