It was clear several months ago when Jai Lucas joined John Calipari’s staff in Lexington that the match was — dare I say — made in Heaven.

Coupling the resources of the University Kentucky with a young coach that’s widely viewed as a rising star in college basketball coaching, and you can begin to see a clear path for Kentucky to return to dominating the recruiting trail.

Now, there is another five-star prospect being linked to Kentucky and unsurprisingly, Jai Lucas is right in the thick of it.

Keyonte George is a 6-4 shooting guard from Lewisville (TX) and is labeled as the No. 10 prospect in the class of 2022 by 247 Sports Composite.

George spoke to Rivals basketball recruiting director Rob Cassidy and had this to say about where things stand with Kentucky.

“I talk to Coach [Jai Lucas] a lot. He’s really cool. They are just watching me and seeing how I develop. They are gonna watch me all year and see if they are going to give me the offer.” George said.

Texas again, huh?

The Lone Star State already had a reputation for producing top tier talent in various sports. But over the last decade or so, Texas has exploded as a hotbed for high school basketball talent.

Texas talent that Kentucky has had tremendous success with under John Calipari with players like Julius Randle, De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Maxey and the Harrison Twins.

Adding a coach who is familiar with the territory like Jai Lucas can only catapult things further in UK’s favor moving forward.

When it comes specifically to Keyonte George, you can expect Lucas and the rest of the coaching staff to keep a close eye on his game before ultimately deciding if an offer will be extended.

It’ll be music to Kentucky fans’ ears to learn that George is considered not only be an athletic guard, but also a very skilled basketball player who can score at multiple levels all while getting his teammates involved.
