Five-star point guard Jeremy Roach is down to four and the Cats made the cut. 247 Sports ranks 6-foot-2, 165-pound guard as the No. 11 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 1 point guard in the class. The rankings peg R.J. Hampton as a comb-guard, but the Cats look to be in a solid spot for several 2020 players and none more than Roach. Kentucky currently leads the Crystal Ball with 80 percent of the picks. UK offered Roach in September but the Cats have been recruiting him for over a year. He visited Kentucky for an exhibition game last year and UK’s coaches have been talking with him even longer. Joel Justus is the primary recruiter.
Roach’s final four also includes Villanova, Duke and North Carolina. A real who’s who of a final four for the Paul VI Catholic in Fairfax, Va. stud.
Roach is a do-it-all point guard that can shoot it but is a great passer. He would be a fantastic replacement once Tyrese Maxey leaves and I think the Cats will have a great chance of landing Roach. Because of the new official visit rules expect Roach to take an official to UK in the near future, and maybe another this time next year if he’s still uncommitted.
