After this relentless winter and as a huge Cincinnati Reds baseball fan, I am anxiously awaiting opening day of baseball.
The Reds have been unusually quiet during the off season with any new acquisitions, only some seasoned back-up players. But almost everybody is back with the noteable exception of Shin-Soo Choo, who had a sensational season last year as arguably the best lead-off man in baseball.
I am very excited about seeing how Billy Hamilton develops into the role of lead-off man. The kid has amazing speed and always creates a lot of excitement when he gets on base .... "RUN ,BILLY, RUN".
I always liked Dusty Baker but I think it was time for him go. Hopefully Bryan Price can step in and correct some of the problems they had last year, mainly timely hitting.
The Reds have a very strong nucleus of returning regulars, a solid starting pitching rotation, a proven bull pen especially with the return of a healthy Jonathan Broxton and Sean Marshall.
COME ON SUMMER!!!!

I am a huge Reds fan as well. Until the league decides to play fair and put a spending limit on salaries, the large market teams will always have the upper hand. It will be a rare occasion that a small market team like Cincy will be able to compete for a World Series. Yes, they are a good team. But, we all know, the large market teams can afford to go out and buy that extra ace pitcher that the smaller market teams can not.
