Davis Sr. said his son continues to lean on what he learned at Kentucky. Specifically, he said, coach John Calipari taught him the importance of listening — to coaches, to teammates, to anyone who can help guide him. And whenever Davis Sr. is visiting his son in New Orleans and a Kentucky basketball game is on television, they watch.
During those games, Davis Sr. can pause and think about how far his son has come in such a short time. It feels like just yesterday that he saw him cut down the national championship nets in New Orleans. Now, he goes to Pelicans games in that city and sees children proudly wearing his son’s No. 23.
