Sutton compiled a 806-326 record over 37 seasons at Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky, his alma mater Oklahoma State and San Francisco, becoming the first coach to lead four different programs to the NCAA Tournament...

His record speaks for itself. He deserves the induction, but I believe his record at Kentucky would have been a whole lot better if he would have not played his son Sean so much. The same can be said for Tubby as well, playing Saul when he didn't deserve the playing time.

RLT, I believe Chris Duhon was coming to Kentucky until Tubby let Saul come on board. That is what made him switch to Dook. At least that's what I remember happening .

I have mixed emotions about Sutton and I guess I should just leave it at that.

Sutton was a great coach, but the UK job was over his head...he let the boosters become way too close to the program.
PC....I remember it the same way.

Sutton would have been a hell of a coach if he wasn't a drunk. I was in grad school during his time at UK, and I remember once his assistant coaches carrying (yes, carrying) him out of the Raddison bar on a weekend. And that wasn't the only time I saw him drunk out on the town.
Playing one's son is a huge recruiting mistake; Calipari managed to avoid that problem, thank God. But Sean seems to have been a source of turmoil on the team as well as an obvious obstacle for recruits.

Saul was a Senior when Duhon would have been a Freshmen. Saul had nothing to do with Duhon not coming. He didn't come because Duke arranged employment for his mother in a role she wasn't qualified to do and they paid her more than her peers no less. He had to go play behind Jay Williams at Duke.
UK ended up with a better guard than Duhon anyway when Cliff Hawkins signed.
-------------------- Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.
