UK announced Monday Montgomery, who committed to Kentucky in April, has signed his national letter of intent.
"I hope our fans understand just how good EJ is and how excited we are to have him," UK head coach John Calipari said in a news relase. "You're talking about a skilled big man who can affect the game in a number of ways. EJ is the type of position-less player the game is moving towards. He can play just about anywhere and make plays on the perimeter with his skills and versatility, yet he's got the length and the ability to finish in the post as well as anyone in this class. What I love about him is he models his game after Anthony Davis, one of the best we've ever had, but wants to be his own player and carve out his legacy."

Calipari comparing him to AD? I hope that he is that good.
I am no basketball guru, but with all the young talent that comes and goes, I think that a high level shot blocker in the paint, who is quick like AD was, is what Cal needs every year, to bail out the soft D from the young freshman.
I would take the tallest and most athletic shot blocker, I could find, every season. Offensive output would be a bonus, but D would be my primary concern for a center.

So true, Boom. With the exception of the Noel team, our not-so-great teams had no inside presence that could control the paint.
