Major upgrade in SEC basketball this season. We will have a tough time winning the conference this year because the teams have improved considerably over the past couple of years. I just finished watching Tenn beat NC State of the mighty ACC by nine points in a tournament. We will have a very tough time winning the SEC championship this season, a freshman loaded team with a highly upgraded SEC will give us a lot of headaches unless our young team grow out of puberty very fast. Bama, Tenn, A&M, Florida, Tenn are all better teams than we are at this point of the season, unfortunately. [ 11-24-2017, 04:46 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

I agree that there are better teams than us in the SEC at the present. I think that there are well over 50 teams nation wide that would have the same record as us and several more that would be undefeated if they played our schedule. I know Cal wants to play some weak teams to give these guys time to mesh but I've been pretty disappointed so far. [ 11-24-2017, 06:21 PM: Message edited by: handycat ]

My sentiments exactly Handycat. I am watching Texas destroy Duke right now and Arizona putting a whipping on one of the Big East teams Xavier by about 14 pts with 5 minutes left. ESPN have rated the Big east the best conference, well, I disagree, they have had losses of all their rated teams except Villanova within the last two days. ESPN love the ACC and Big East for some unknown reason, probably because of big tv markets.

I say Kentucky doesn't lose a home game this season. They will drop a few road games. I do think they will win the SEC tourney and be one of the 1 or 2 seeds in the big dance.

They're not looking good but they are winning. I still think they will sweep the non conf games and lose 3 conf games. 26-4

Consistent post play, rebounding, and defense from Richards, coupled with consistent pass-first point-guard play from Green will take this team a long way. The rest of the players fit Cal's mold of "positionless", and are essentially interchangeable; he can run players in and out depending on matchup or performance. But Richards and Green are the two lynchpins that this team will build around.
Knox, Washington, Wenyen, Shai, and all the others are a potent mix of scorers, defenders, and floor-runners. If Green distributes the ball, and Richards plays like a lion, the pieces will fit together nicely. If not, we will see a lot of 1-on-1 street ball.
