I owe you an apology. I kind of made fun of your posts wanting to compare Monk with Jordan. I still think that may be a bit premature but my goodness that kid can play. You're a better judge of talent than I.

What makes Monk so good is the catch-and-release of his shot. He needs little space and little time to get a shot off. That translates to big-time $$$ in the NBA.

Jordon averaged 13.5 points per game, shot 53.4% from the field and better than 72% from the line.

Many basketball gurus said that Jordon was the best player of all-time.

Yes, I made a bold statement. No apology needed, I am wrong quite a bit, and made the comment after Monk had a real dominate game. There will never be another Jordan. But, the way Monk plays with no fear, creates his own shot, and has such pure athleticism, reminds me of the NBA Jordan, not the college Jordan. If Monk is this good as a college freshman, there is no telling how great a career he will have in the league.

By the way, if Jordan never got Pippen in particular and a few other pieces like Rodman on his team, he and the Bulls wouldn't have won all those rings. He would still have been a great player, but might not be regarded as the best of all time. So, as great as Monk may turn out to be in the pros, he still needs to get on a team with great complimentary players, in my opinion, to win those rings.

I was watching the UNC game with a bunch of people and when Monk took the last shot from behind the 3 line, there were a few in the crowd that didn't want him to pull the trigger. Who else on this year's team would you want to take the shot?
