It's good to hear Lyles had such a great desire to stay for another season but with his projection of being a lottery pick he had no choice.
Trey Lyles wouldn’t deny that it was hard at times during Kentucky’s season to block out the speculation about potentially be a lottery pick in the June NBA draft, but he says he managed to do it.
“You have so much on your plate when you’re going through the season that you really can’t focus on anything else. That’s just like Coach (John Calipari) said throughout the season, it was just clutter coming after us and we had to block it out. I think a lot of us done that very well and it showed in our play.”
Now the Kentucky freshman is headed to the NBA draft along with six teammates after helping UK to a 38-1 season in which the Wildcats were ranked No. 1 every week of the season until they lost to Wisconsin in the Final Four.
“You just have to think of what’s in the best interest for yourself,” Lyles said about going to the NBA. “Like Coach said, like everybody said, this is a dream of all of ours. We’re just in the process of chasing it right now.
