After watching every game this year I am shocked at how dominant this defence is. Never in my 35 yrs of watching bbl on a regular basis have seen a team move so quickly and convergeon the ball as this group. It is sabsolutely beautiful to watch!!! The rotation on offence and assist ratio is unreal as well, this could be special guys!!!

Something tells me you are right. They've already made history in UK lore with the 12 consecutive games winning by double digits.

Good defense is like poetry in motion and you hardly ever see teams that really play good defense on a continual basis. Wisconsin is one and Boeheim at Syracuse runs a mean zone defense. rr 65 is right on, the defense we are playing is beautiful to watch.

They have made history but they have not got the record yet. The 12 wins by double digits ties the record for second place by the 95-96 team. They ran off 12 straight double digit victories from mid season until they lost in the SEC tourney to Miss St. The record, which could be tied on Saturday, was set at 13 games by this same 95-96 team from the first game of the season until they lost to GA at mid season. That is 25 of 26 games in a row winning by double digits, which might be another record. Then they ran off 4 more in the NCAA until they played UMass and Utah to less than double digits. That's 29 of 33 games won by double digits. This is where we may be able to set a record due to the extra number of games we play this year, possibly 40 games.

I just hope we win first as that's the main thing. If we play well enough good things will happen and we certainly could win by double digits.

Here is a good article on the Calpari vs Pitino rivalry. It is to long to post but a interesting and informative article.

When Kentucky visits Louisville on Saturday, it's not just a matchup of unbeaten and highly ranked teams that have mostly demolished every opponent to get in their way this season. It's also the latest clash between two of the game's best—and most polarizing—coaches.

Kentucky coach John Calipari and Louisville's Rick Pitino have a long history against each other, dating back to the 1970s when Pitino worked at basketball camps and Calipari was a participant in those camps. Pitino helped get Calipari his first head coaching job, at Massachusetts, and the two have faced off against each other 32 times in both college and the NBA.

Calipari has a 14-12 edge (11-9 in college), moving ahead last season with Kentucky's sweep of Louisville in the regular season and then the Sweet 16.

It's a coaching rivalry that ranks among the best in the game, similar to what Duke's Mike Krzyzewski had with former North Carolina coach Dean Smith or what Syracuse's Jim Boeheim had with several retired Big East coaches. There's respect, there's contempt and there's strong competition, all the things that make for a great rivalry.

Over their long history, several key moments stand out. We chronicle and rank them here, for your reminiscent pleasure, ahead of this weekend's clash of Top 5 teams.

Actually Cal is 6-1 against Rick at KY. He's gone 4-1 in the regular season, losing the last time they played at the Yum Center in UL's championship season 80-77.
Cal is also 2-0 against Rick while at KY in the NCAA Tourney. Beating them in the Final Four OUR 2012 Championship season, and 74-69 last year in the sweet 16 on our way to the Finals!

That was played in the Yum center and we lost by 3 points even though we scored 49 points in the second half.

It is it here is the results of the 6 games they coached against in the NBA.

when in the pros with the Nets and Celtics, throughout the 1997-98 season and in the early part of the 1998-99 campaign before Calipari was let go. The pair split their six meetings, with Calipari taking the first-ever meeting on Nov. 19, 1997.

The Nets claimed a 108-100 decision over Pitino's Celtics, but the next night Boston won at home, 101-93.

It should also be noted that their coaching records did not carry over to the NBA as they both had losing records and came back to college coaching.

Where Cal is the best is recruiting and you can't recruit in the pros. Cal is the best basketball recruiter of all times and he has no peers. He also is smart and knows what he does best.
