My next door neighbor, a died in the wool Cards fan, Came up to me after Mass this morning, and gave me the shock of a lifetime. He said, "Norm, this Cats team is the best college basketball team I have ever seen." I said, "Steve, If they can beat Louisville next Saturday, I don't know who is going to beat them." He replied, "It would take a miracle for the Cards to beat them. I expect them to beat the s**t out of us. I have never seen anything like that game yesterday." I reiterate: He is a die hard Cards fan!

I hope you're neighbor is right!

Let's just hope we play like we did against UCLA. I would bet Cal will have them ready to go but it still worries me when we play a Pitino team. I guess it's because I want to beat them so bad.

It'll be an interesting game. Don't you think with Rick keeping his players home from Christmas that he won't work his players tails off to get them ready for this one.

Lachlan McLain says KY should Roll Louisville!

I guess talent is hard to over come, huh?

Lach wants to know, If Willie gets in foul trouble, who guards Harrell?

I think the white team with Lee and Johnson will slow him down quite a bit.

Lee was the player I thought as well. He's quick enough to stay with about anyone!

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 12-22-2014, 09:01 PM:

I'm not sure they realize how hard it is for even an athlete like Harrell will get tired trying to stay with that many different players!

That's a good point he is going to see a lot of fresh 7 footers all over him. That has to take something out of you.

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 12-23-2014, 12:53 AM:

It may be like a turn-style at the scorers table with fresh 7 footers every 5 minutes. That has to tire you out.

You have to remember too that Harrell has to play defense and guard our bigs, that isn't going to be all that easy. WCS is going to cause him all kinds of problems, so will Dakari and Lee too as he can jump out of the gym.

I just wish Poy would have got a shot at him too as he is just as athletic and strong as Harrell.

Because Montrez is UL's only reliable star player, all I hear is who will defend him. He is not some unstoppable force.

I look for anywhere from a 10 to a 25 point win, depending on if the game slows down or if it becomes a foul fest with the refs.

I think we will have different players on him one of them keeps him in tow he will continue to guard Harrell. Stop Harrell and win big.

Rozier is a pretty good player too. Not sure how he stacks up with our depth. I guess we'll see in 4 days!

Is it possible that we could pull a Rupp when he was coaching against Maravich? Let him get his points and stop everyone else?

No way! Cal would never do that. He will want every player to stop the guy that is in front of him and then play fundamental help defense behind him. ball, man, you!

Oh I agree, my thought is, one man can't beat you by himself.

Matt Jones says if we get to 70 points we will win!

That's why I think we win as if we even slow down Harrell a little bit they don't have the players to pick up his play.

The one thing that does bother me is that how we will handle pressure as you can bet they will be all over us. If the refs call the game close they run the risk of losing some players and they do not have a deep bench.

Blacksheer is having a heckuva game tonight for UL he had 23 first half points.

Louisville beating CSUN 49-41 with just under 14 minutes to play!

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 12-23-2014, 09:38 PM:

THey did end up winning by 25 but the CSNU team didn't even hit a three pointer in the game and only attempted 3

They played with out Harrell and ended up playing pretty good basketball.

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 12-23-2014, 09:41 PM:

Blackshear had 31 points.

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 12-23-2014, 09:42 PM:

They shot 47% from the field and 40% from the 3 point line.

It's hard to tell just how good they played as CS Northridge isn't a household name in college basketball.

The Cardinals shoot their free throws well at 78%. Their defense had 14 steals so you can't be careless with the ball.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 12-23-2014, 09:57 PM:

THey had to wait until CSUN got tired with about 10 minutes to play in the game!

It actually looked like to high school teams playing!

That is kind of a trade mark of a Pitino team their defense is such that they tire teams out with their defense and beat you towards the later part of games.

We have so much depth that if they play that way against us we should be able to have players in the game at all times that are in good shape.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 12-24-2014, 01:54 PM:

As long as we stay healthy there shouldn't be a reason all season for us to get tired!

Too much press might be counter productive for the Cards this weekend!

Don't be surprised to see our big guys shoot a LOT of free throws this weekend!

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 12-24-2014, 02:34 PM:

Tired is not in this teams vocabulary.

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 12-24-2014, 02:35 PM:

I wouldn't bet on our bigs shooting a lot of 3's.

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 12-24-2014, 02:37 PM:

Pitino loves to press and hack and wouldn't be surprised if he tries it against our Cats. I bet Cal has prepared his team for about anything as he knows Pitino more than any coach.

I'm sure he's told Lee, Johnson, and Willie, They are going to put you on the free throw line. You have to be ready to hit your free throws!

It's going to interesting to see how much free throws had to do with the game.
