They still have 36 holes to play.
After play was suspended on Friday due to more than eight hours of weather delays, the University of Kentucky men's golf team completed the first round of the NCAA Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club on Saturday with a team score of 8-over par, 288.
UK was in the first wave of teams to have the early tee times and finished the first round Saturday morning, while the second wave of teams played 36 holes on Saturday. UK will play the final 36 holes on Sunday, weather permitting. The Wildcats will tee off at 8:10 a.m. CT on Sunday to begin second round play.
No. 3 Stanford leads the pack at 12-under par, 548, through 36 holes while No. 24 South Carolina (-8), No. 1 Alabama (-8), No. 23 Auburn (-6) and No. 28 SMU (-5) complete the top five. Stanford's Cameron Wilson is atop the individual leaderboard at 6-under par, 134.
Rounding out the rest of the team standings were No. 16 LSU (-4), No. 14 Oklahoma (-4), No. 2 Oklahoma State (-4), Iowa State (-2), No. 21 UCLA (-1), No. 4 Georgia Tech (-1), No. 15 Vanderbilt (E), Missouri (+3), Oregon (+4), No. 9 Illinois (+4), Georgia State (+5), No. 8 Washington (+5), No. 18 Florida State (+6), Purdue (+6), No. 13 UAB (+6), UK (+8), No. 11 Houston (+8), No. 5 California (+8), No. 17 Texas (+9), No. 6 Georgia (+13), Kennesaw State (+14), No. 22 USC (+16), No. 20 Texas A&M (+16), No. 12 Arkansas (+19) and No. 10 Virginia Tech (+29).
Leading the way for Kentucky is senior Ben Stow after a 2-under par, 68, in the first round. His score puts him in a tie for 15th place with 36 holes remaining. Stow collected four birdies Saturday morning.
Junior David Snyder carded a 1-over par, 71, and sits in a tie for 54th. Senior Stephen Powers is two strokes back at 3-over par, 73, and tied for 86th.
