So for the first time since the introduction of the shot clock none of the Final Four teams could manage to score 65 points.

I watched the last 30 seconds of Auburn and I tried to watch the first 10 minutes of the Tech and MSU game. That was just atrocious basketball, similar to the second half that UK played against Auburn.

A few things I can surmise from what I watched:

1. It doesn't matter if you have Seniors or Freshmen, you just have to survive and advance
2. Kids make boneheaded plays. Just think about Auburn. They fouled on a three at the end and New Mexico State kid missed. Do it again and Guy drains them.
3. Kids don't know what is good shot and what is a bad shot.

What I saw was just awful. I'm glad I watch a lot more NBA than College these days. I think Charles Barkley probably agrees. I heard him say, "That was just some bad offense, not great defense"

First team to 35 probably wins on Monday.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

I wonder if the huge arena setting makes a difference. Kids play all year in gyms that might seat 20,000, and then they go play in a football stadium that seats 80,000.

PC,

I'm sure it may have a little impact, but I think it has more to do with how young kids grow up playing these days. They spend all their time dunking or shooting step back Steph Curry and Kevin Durant threes, but they are not Steph Curry or Kevin Durant. LOL. They spend very little time learning about movement, cutting without the ball, passing the ball to the post, don't dribble to where the pass came from, etc.

I hear you, Trey. The other night after the NIT finals on ESPN the college dunk contest and 3-point contest was on. I thought, "where's the free throw contest?" There's more to basketball than dunks and 3-pointers, but that's really all that gets glorified.

Don't forget the refs Trey - they seem to get worse as the games go on...

If an old high school coach like me can plainly see the double dribble after the Va kid picks it back up and then dribbles again there is no hope for "supposedly" the best officials in the sport..

I am yelling "double dribble - double dribble" and they didn't see it!!!

Further the "supposed" foul did not effect his shot - appears like to me at least that the officials wanted VA to win. That call could be made anytime anywhere I believe!

I have no dogs in the fight but that is the way I see it..

Good point, UKCATFANNFL. The refs are PAID to make the right call, and although I haven't watched the replay, I bet there was a ref right there in position to make that double-dribble call. NO way that should've been missed. It seems like there are too many missed calls and bad calls these days.

Trey, I only saw the second half of the Tech vs State game. I saw much of what you describe, but I also saw the refs allow Tech to slap, bump, and shove on defense to a degree that no offense would look good.

I like the Texas Tech team, its focus on defense, and the character and demeanor of their coach. I hope they win it all. But really, does anybody here think that UK would be allowed to play that kind of defense? Every player would foul out!

Like I said on another thread, the officials determined who won the Auburn/Virginia game and that should never have happened. The missed double dribble with just a few seconds left determined who won the game in my opinion. And Pearl had two fouls to give with 19 seconds to go in the game and did not have his team to execute that part of the game properly.

I am one that dislikes the three point shot and the one game I never watch is the NBA. I find the NBA games very boring and have not watched one in years. I am an amatuer sports fan, don't care for pro football, pro basketball, Hockey or any of the high priced sports except golf.

And I do also think it makes a difference whether you have freshmen or upper classmen. Look at the teams last night, UVa started 4 seniors, Auburn is mostly juniors and seniors, so it Texas Tech and MIchigan State. I don't see any team with all freshmen starting ever win a national championship. Pearl played right into UVA's hands last night by not getting the game in a more up tempo mode.

I watched all of both games last night and was certainly entertained by them but felt bad about the Auburn loss. Was happy to see Texas Tech advance by beating MIchigan State.

We saw a lot of poor offense and decision making in the semifinal games. If not for two stupid decision making fouls in the final minute by Auburn we would be looking at an Auburn vs Texas Tech game tonight.

I was told that the cameras went into the Texas Tech locker room after they beat Mich State to show the viewers their celebration. When they went to it, the team was praying instead of whooping it up and the cameras quickly cut to a different scene.

I didn't watch the games, so I don't know if it is true. Wonder if the producers of the game were against prayer or they just thought the audience would rather see people whooping it up and hollering?

I heard the same thing, Boom. I cannot confirm nor deny! I do remember them interviewing Mooney after the MSU game and the first thing out of his mouth was "I give all Glory to GOD"!
