Watched both HS Tournament semis yesterday. Keion Brooks looked good (20 points) leading his team to a point victory over Oak Hill. His team, LaLumiere from Indiana, will play IMG Academy from Florida at 12:30 today on ESPN.

Watched the second game also. Brooks is the real deal. He can take the place of Washington very well. He has the size and the shot along with defense. He could be the best 3/4 man on the team next year. I'm worried that Allen may be red shirted next year. Recovering from an ACL tear and now the problem with the wreck he had yesterday, he may have trouble keeping up with the rest of the team.

Wow! Did he have an off day or what? Don't know how many points he ended up with but his team lost in the championship game. His shot was just not falling this day. Is this a bad omen???

I didn't see the game, but what you just described is the Keion Brooks that I have seen first hand many times. He also usually plays no defense and has no motor to speak of. I would take a kid, Ali Ali, that is going to Akron that he played against several times over him any day of the week. Better shooter, better ball handler, better passer, and an inch or two taller.

BamaCat….Brooks ended up with 15 points (leading team) but that is the only stat I could find.

Based on Trey Ball's comments, hope Brooks improves his game over the summer.

I saw him play Friday and Saturday and was highly impressed with his game. We are lucky to be getting him at Ky. He had an off game against IMG academy but was still the leading scorer. I cannot imagine Akron getting a kid that is better than he is. He dominated the Oak Hill team on Friday and looked great to me in both games I watched him play. At six eight with guard and three point shooting skills, he is a player that we need.

Bama, IMG academy have three McDonald's all americans on their roster. Their guards won the game against Brooks team and he was not the one trying to defend them. I have never heard of Ali Ali who is going to Akron. For what it is worth, Brooks team run all their offense through their Center, a player we wanted really bad who is going to Washington. Brooks was option number two and he had to get rebounds and do all the other things necessary to beat the Oak Hill team and keep his team in the game against IMG.

I agree with SCWC...... I was impressed with the kid. Very athletic, great hops, and plays inside AND out!! Very glad ti have him coming in next year!!

Only Kentucky fans can critic a 17 year d kid playing in a HS game 🙄 Nobody should be knocking his game against the team that was 30-0 coming into the championship against another national power that was 29-1...... IMG beat them out front and controlled their guards..... and he still led the team...

I have watched Brooks play live a lot times when he was a Soph and Junior in high school. I have not seen him play at all this year since he moved and played at La Lumiere and I have heard he has improved significantly. I’m just giving my own thoughts on the kid from sitting in a gym and watching him play. I am not an expert talent evaluator by any means. I just never left the gym being wowed by the kid. Solid player, but he has never struck me as a Top 50 high school player, but I know he has obviously performed well in the AAU circuits or he wouldn't be ranked that highly and have the likes of Kentucky/Michigan State chasing after his services.

I continue to say that Akron got a steal when they signed the other kid I mentioned. He always played guard and went through a growth spurt and he is now a legit 6’9” and they think he may end up close to 7’0”. We will see, but I think he will end up being a stud for Akron and a NBA prospect before it is all said and done. There is also another kid in Fort Wayne who is going to Miami (OH) that always impressed me more than Brooks.

It could be that those two guys just matched up well with Keion when they went head to head.

Amen! Cal makes 10 million a year to take us to 7 elite eights, 4 final fours and one national title in 10 years. I pretty sure Cal has a good handle on who will help keep us in the hunt for 9.

Maybe some of these 15-40 ranked players will play more than one year? With that maybe they will be the glue for the top 10 studs Cal does land? We always ask ourselves why doesn't Cal get guys he can develop so we have experience. Maybe he is trying a mix of that right now.
