Should Cal have called for a time out after Monk tied the game?
I really don't know and was wondering what others thought.
Really don't want this to turn into one of those ridiculous "Cal can't coach threads" but I think it is a legit question.

Cal answered that question on his call-in show tonight. Basically he said he should have, but UNC got the ball back into play so quickly he didn't get the chance. In fact, he said he even mentioned it to Coach Williams after the game, and HE said "You wouldn't have had the chance". Basically, UNC practices getting the ball into play as quickly as possible precisely to prevent the opponents from getting a time-out.

I was ok the way it went down. I would rather have UNC go down and try to score without setting something up. If Cal calls time out then UNC gets to plan something. I think we defended ok - Briscoe had two guys to try and guard out top, he just happened to choose the wrong one. Maye made a 19-footer. It's not like we gave up a game-winning layup.

Not me, I would rather this Carolina team try to score from a set play rather than in transition. They are a great transition team and we are an outstanding half court defensive team. If there had been time, I would have called the timeout and forced UNC to run a half court offense to score against us. In a set defense, they would not have gotten the ball down the court as quickly and would have had way less time. However, watching the replay, unless someone was in the ref's face as soon as the ball when in the rim, you would have never got that time out called.

I would definitely have called a timeout. Like it was just said, I would take our set up defense against their set offense. Their best offense is just pushing the ball up and getting a quick shot. We played it okay, but we did not really match up great in the transition. Maybe was way too open. It wasn't even close to a contested shot.

Heck guys, even if Cal had time and wanted to call a timeout, Higgins wouldn't have given it to him!
