Breaking a finger like she did will affect her for the rest of the season and is a big loss to the Ladycats.

Kentucky women’s basketball senior Bria Goss will miss four to six weeks with a broken left thumb sustained in shoot around on Sunday afternoon, head coach Matthew Mitchell announced today.

Goss, a 5-foot-10 guard of Indianapolis, attempted to play in Sunday night’s game vs. Belmont with her thumb taped, but only saw three minutes in the first half.

“We are thankful Bria’s injury was not season-ending. That would have been quite a blow,” Mitchell said. “For our team, this is a great opportunity to develop in the areas of defensive energy, offensive efficiency and leadership, all things that Bria consistently brings to this team. In her absence, our players will have to find ways to strengthen themselves in these critical areas to make up for what we lose with Bria on the sidelines. This will also force us to progress our young post players during the time Bria is out. We hate Bria is out but we all need to work hard so when she returns, we are stronger than ever.”

Goss has never missed a game in her Wildcat career, playing in 117 contests with 102 starts, including 17 in a row. She currently averages 7.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game and has netted 1,140 career points which ranks 21st on UK’s all-time scoring list.

The bad part is she is a senior which really makes one feel bad for her.

Granted she may come back but when you have a finger injury it really is hard to overcome because you keep bumping it and it's hard to not think about it.
