The Kentucky Wildcats continue to work hard to keep recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow, but the Michigan State Spartans are doing their best to pry him away from Lexington.

We should be getting a decision from Marrow soon, but before then, the Spartans are upping their offer, according to KSR’s Matt Jones.

On Thursday, Jones reported that UK had issued a counteroffer that was very close to what the Spartans were originally offering, and it’s unclear how much more money the newest offer has.

Either way, it sounds like Michigan State is hellbent on getting Marrow, so it’s up to UK to be just as hellbent to keep him. Otherwise, Marrow will be on his way to East Lansing as early as today, and UK will lose arguably the greatest recruit its football program has ever had.

Also, while there haven’t been any reports of Michigan State also pursuing UK secondary coach Steve Clinkscale, I would imagine they’ll do so regardless of what happens with Marrow. Clinkscale has been a recruiting force in Michigan for UK, so I’d imagine the Spartans will try to also hire him to boost their in-state recruiting efforts.

At this point, and it’s strictly a guess, but I would guess Marrow leaves. What say you?
