Kentucky is poised to close with one of its best recruiting classes in school history, but Mark Stoops added a former elite high school player via transfer on Thursday night.

Former four-star quarterback Joey Gatewood announced on Twitter that he has committed to Kentucky.

Gatewood, ranked as the No. 1 athlete in the country and No. 49 player overall in the 2018 class, began his career at Auburn. He redshirted in 2018 and lost the starting job this fall to Bo Nix. He played in seven games for the Tigers before entering the transfer portal in October. Gatewood completed 5 of 7 pass attempts for two touchdowns. He rushed 29 times for 148 yards and three touchdowns. The Jacksonville, Florida, native was mostly used as a short-yardage quarterback for the Tigers.

He's not even included in our 11th ranked (tied) recruiting class in the nation!

It sounds as though we could bring in 3-4 more 3&4* players in the spring!

Since 1978 we have had only 1 season where we won double digit games.(2018 10-3)
