As Bama posted, it rained pretty much the entire game tonight. But what a game! My daughter and I were a couple of wet wildcats, but we really enjoyed the experience.

Today started with a cup of coffee with HandyCat and his lovely wife. After an unfortunate bout of work, my daughter and I did some shopping and loaded up on UK gear. Then we headed downtown to meet Handy, his wife, and his grandson for dinner.

Afterwards, my daughter and I walked from downtown and cut across campus on the way to the stadium. That was quite a nostalgic journey for me, and although much has changed, much remains the same. We even stopped by my old haunts in the Physics department and got to chat with some of the researchers in the nuclear lab.

Then on to the game, and as we left the physics building, the rain began. When we got inside the gates, we headed over to see if we could find Bama Cat, but I realized that nobody would know him by that name... next time I need your 'real' name so I can ask your fellow workers to point you out! I really wish I could have had the chance to meet you.

So, we returned to our seats and got ready for the game. And the game... wow. Bennie Snell is the best running back I have ever watched. He almost looks like he is walking through the line of scrimmage, and then he cuts, jukes, and kicks in the afterburners for a big gain. That man has natural talent oozing from his pores.

It took the offense most of the first three quarters to figure out how to consistently exploit the MSU defense, but once they did, a nice combination of the wildcat, misdirections, and the occasional long pass play did the trick. Let me tell you, though, that the MSU defense is a tough nut to crack. They are SOLID.

But our defense was better than theirs today. We contained their dangerous QB, and won the line of scrimmage. By the end of the game, just as our offense started to click, our defense found a way to penetrate the backfield and wreck the MSU offense. Other than a few embarrassing cases of blown pass coverage, the defense played admirably the whole game, and dominated in the 4th quarter.

Folks, we have a good football team. No foolin. But this team wins or loses with the legs of Benny Snell. He is a superstar.

It rained the whole time, until the last 5 or 10 minutes. Was more of a slow steady rain. Cheap ponchos kept us dry.

The stadium was rocking. Stood most of the game.

Oh my goodness! I kept watching for some old guys coming out of the tunnel at 32-33,34. No one showed by halftime so I quit looking. I am in charge of that entrance to the seats. Sorry we couldn't hook up. (McAfee if you ever get here again).
