UK sophomore quarterback Drew Barker will miss a “significant amount of time” with a back injury, UK head coach Mark Stoops announced Wednesday.

Barker was sidelined after the first series of UK’s 62-42 win over New Mexico State, but Stoops said Monday the back injury was something Barker had been dealing with since the summer.

For now, doctors do not think Barker’s injury requires surgery. The plan is for him to be reevaluated after an extended period of rest.
