Whatever it is I hope he gets it all worked out as we are not the same team without him playing at a high level.

Kentucky sophomore running back Boom Williams, who did not have a carry in the second half of Saturday’s win over Missouri and lost his starting job to JoJo Kemp this week, was not at practice Monday or again Tuesday for what coach Mark Stoops said was a “personal” issue.

Rumors swirled on social media that Williams had quit the team. He was seen quickly leaving the field after the Missouri game and did not celebrate with teammates.

Williams had seven rushes for 21 yards against Missouri and four catches for seven yards.  His only second half carry was a 1-yard gain and on the next play quarterback Patrick Towles was sacked for a 9-yard loss.

Stoops said he was not sure about Williams’ availability for Saturday’s game with Eastern Kentucky. However, he made it clear after Tuesday’s practice that Williams had not quit the team.

“It has nothing to do with him quitting the team or anything like that,” the Kentucky coach said.” I'm just here to tell you that, again, Boom's going through a personal issue. We're here to help him any way we can and when he gets some things resolved and situated, he'll back out there. Until then, we'll support him any way we can and the other guys will step up and compete.”

Fortunately, he was in full pads and practiced on Wednesday, so it has yet to be revealed what these "personal reasons" are. Of course, that is none of our business, I just hope that Boom is happy and that this is not a distraction.

He missed Monday and Tuesday, but did participate in Wednesdays practice. He is the most talented RB on the team. He is a big time play maker. I do expect him to get that starting job back in a game or two.

He will get his carries too even if he doesn't start.
