Kentucky fans have the game with Florida in three weeks circled as the time UK ends the 28-game losing streak to Florida. Many think a win over Missouri in late September is possible and most expect a win over Louisville to end the season.

Only three opponents — No. 77 Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 83 Vanderbilt and No. 128 Charlotte — are rated lower than Kentucky. That’s a point former UK quarterback Freddie Maggard pointed out on Twitter and prompted me to ask him if that means UK fans should worry about whether the Cats can at least get bowl eligible with six wins.

“Don't think so Larry. Preseason polls lean more towards logo infatuation and less on analysis,” Maggard replied on Twitter.

However, that was not the only reply I got on Twitter.

Next came this one from @patty_ice14 (better known by some as quarterback Patrick Towles). The remark was short and to the point, “Nope.”

Of course, what else would I expect from the quarterback who went on the SEC Network and didn’t mind saying he thought UK could get to the SEC championship game by winning the Eastern Division this year. And remember that sophomore defensive lineman Matt Elam said earlier this week he thought UK could go 12-0.
