If we play like we did early in the season we will be fine but if we don't we could lose big.

Getting bowl eligible with a win over Louisville Saturday would not have any extra significance to Kentucky coach Mark Stoops because all that matters to him is getting a win.

“I really don’t care who we get it against. It really doesn’t (matter). No, I think, no, I’d just love to get it,” said Stoops.

Stoops doesn’t expect his players to be “tight” Saturday in Louisville when they try to end a five-game losing skid and beat Louisville, which is coming off a victory at Notre Dame.

“I don’t think we’ll be tight. We shouldn’t be. We’ve got a lot to play for. Guys are excited and energized,” Stoops said. “Like I said, it’s been a good, tough stretch against some quality teams down the stretch here. We’ve got time for a bye, and we’re playing our rival on the road for an opportunity to go to a bowl game. So it is what it is.

“We’ll prepare and be excited to go play. But there is no reason to be tense or to go play tight. I don’t anticipate that. I’d like to see us play with that great passion and energy that we did for most of the season.”

Stoops says he hasn’t “put any thought” into whether this has been a successful season for UK — which went 2-10 in his first season in 2013 — win or lose Saturday.

“I’ll let you decide on whether it’s been successful or not. I know we’re a better football team,” Stoops said. “I felt like that coming into the year that we’d be better. I think we are better. Are we where I want to be? No, and probably not where a lot of people want to be. So we’re going to keep on working, and keep on getting better.

I hope we had a good practice today and are ready to play a good game on both sides of the ball.

Don't be surprised to see the Cats pull out all of the stops today.
