It was sight to behold and a school record which doesn't happen very often. Austin has to be a very proud young man.

Here’s what redshirt freshman kicker Austin MacGinnis had to say about his school record 54-yard field goal to end the first half in Saturday’s loss at Tennessee.

On his school-record setting field goal …

“When I went out there, I didn’t even know how long it was or that it was for the school record. I knew Coach Stoops called field goal to end the first half and I am just blessed that it went in.”

On him kicking several field goals at the end of the first half this season …

“I don’t know about that, but I really like kicking right before halftime. It is just another chance to get points on the board. I feel that making a field goal at the end of the half like that is a huge momentum boast for our team.”

On holding the school record as a freshman …

“Yeah, that is cool. I am just blessed to have three more years after this to try to set a new record. I just feel blessed every day and can’t wait to get back to work and get better.”

We have to take anything positive out of a debacle like yesterday and that was one of the positives!
