They are playing good right now and need to take one game at a time.

Maybe Kentucky is not going to focus on needing only one more win to be bowl eligible, but senior defensive end Bud Dupree couldn’t help smiling after UK’s 48-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe here Saturday moved the Cats to 5-1.

“Finally,” said Dupree when asked about being within one win of bowl eligibility.

He’s not played on a bowl team at UK and the Cats won just four games total the last two years.

“I am ready to move on to LSU (UK’s next opponent), but I love this (bowl talk). I am just ready to get to a bowl,” Dupree, who got his 19th career sack to tie Dennis Johnson for second on UK’s all-time sack list, said.

Freshman receiver Blake Bone, who had a touchdown catch Saturday, came to UK expecting to win the way the Cats have this year.

“Getting to a bowl is a big thing But we are not going to stop at just one more win, either. We want to win a lot more,” Bone said.

Junior linebacker Josh Forrest admitted it “feels good” to be so close to bowl eligibility.

“We all want to go to a bowl. We can’t just focus on that now, but every win gets you closer and we know that. That’s why every win is so important,” Forrest said.

Stoops knows his players are aware of being within one win of bowl eligibility, something he does not want to talk about.

“Every time we tee it up we go to win,” Stoops said. “I do not want them to worry about a bowl or get ahead of ourselves. You could see we did that today and had an opportunity to lose the game the way we started.”

The coach isn’t worried about UK moving into the national rankings, either.

“Doesn’t matter. Just try to win. If you get enough wins in this league, you will get your respect,” he said.

I see at least 3 opportunities for KY to win their 6th game. Sad thing is they are all road games!

MH, On the good side every win we have had has been at home. (5) It would be nice to have all home games but our opponents might frown upon that. [Wink]

Our remaining schedule is brutal if you ask me.

Paul it isn't pretty that's for sure but we do have a shot at Tennessee and Louisville. Our two home game are both against teams that are playing awfully well but they are at home and you never know.

we got a chance to beat mizz, ten and ville. hard road though, sure would not look good to lose 6 in a row.

If we lose 6 in a row it will prove we are not quite there yet. Win 1 or 2 and we are almost there, unless 1 of the wins is against Georgia or Miss St. If we can beat either of them we should be considered there with more to come next year. I guess this is a little confusing. Just like the team at this point. These next 6 games will prove where we are.

I can see us also "possibly" getting a win at Tennessee. It won't be easy but if we play mistake free football we have a shot.
