It's a game like the Florida game that will make our players play all the harder. It also doesn't hurt to realize how good you are as it builds confidence for future games.

Garrett Johnson, the first true freshman receiver ever to have 100 yards receiving in a single game, was so impressive at Florida that he was named the SEC Freshman of the Week — and should have been even though UK lost in three overtimes.

After the game Saturday, he told Dick Gabriel on the UK Radio Network that it was like a “dream come true” playing hear his home in Florida and having “family and friends rooting for you.”

He also said he was just one of many freshmen that could “make plays” for UK.

“Even though we didn’t come out with a win, anybody can definitely see the progress we have made,” Johnson said. “The offense was making plays. The defense was making plays. I just wish I could have made more. But it just fueled the fire for weeks to come to get better. The next couple of weeks we will harp on that hard and get better.”

The Florida game was one of a very few loses where you can feel good about the game.
