Last week, news about star point guard TyTy Washington and the Kentucky Wildcats started swirling as John Calipari officially offered Washington and the Cats made his top 6 schools.
While we wait on him to make a final college decision, he continues to rocket up the recruiting rankings.
On Wednesday, ESPN became the first major recruiting service to release their final rankings for the class of 2021 and Washington was the biggest mover on the list.
The 6-3 point guard from Arizona rose 22 spots from No. 32 to No. 12 overall in the new rankings.
During his senior season, Washington averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists while leading his team to a 27-1 record and earning a spot in the Geico Nationals. In fact, Max Preps named him a first-team All-American following the season.
Adam Finkelstein and Paul Biancardi of ESPN wrote about the biggest risers in the final rankings and Washington topped the list.
“Washington made progress all season long. He possesses a natural feel for tor the game and has a strong scoring prowess. He can create his own shots and also has the confidence to spot up from his teammate’s penetration or cut off a screen for a layup. He also has a niche of knowing when to distribute the ball to a teammate and when to be aggressive and put the ball in his own hands.
If the Cats are able to land Washington, he would be Kentucky’s top recruit as the other three signees for the 2021 class came in behind Washington.
Power forward Damion Collins stayed put at No. 17. Point guard Nolan Hickman rose six spots to No. 22 and is now a five-star recruit. Small forward Bryce Hopkins fell six spots to No. 31.
