Some of these may still be around somewhere, but not around where I live in Fayette County, Ky:

Burger Chef
Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips
G.D. Ritzy
Weiner King
Godfather's Pizza
Minnie Pearl's Chicken
Mrs. Winner's Chicken
Daniel Boone's Chicken
Ponderosa Steak House

I'm sure there are lots more, but this will get a list started.

There are still 4 Mrs. Winners Chicken and Biscuits in the Atlanta Area, but there used to be many many more. They are definitely on the decline.

How about Tastee Freeze? Any of them still around?

Edit: I answered my own question. Did a quick search and there are still 21 in existence, but none in KY.

What about Dairy King, there used to be one in Munfordville?

Ponderosa and Bonanza seem to have 'merged'. They retain their separate names, but operate as one company now.

My grandma used to love Ponderosa in Newport. She would order a steak and pour ketchup on it! [Eek!]

Also, right out of high school I had a buddy who worked at Druthers in Covington. About twenty minutes before closing, he would put a batch of chicken in the fryer. We'd pick him up from work and he would always have a full bucket of chicken for us! Those were the days. [Smile]

Burger Chef was the first ever fast food restaurant I ate at as a boy. A tornado came thru Madison hilltop in April '74 destroyed the building where it stood and they never rebuilt!

Burger Chef and Jeff. One of the first food chains to introduce a Kids meal!
