One of the most talented pass rushers in America spent the weekend with J.J. Weaver and the UK coaching staff in Lexington. Not long after returning home to Pittsburgh, Tyreese Fearbry shared details of his official visit to Kentucky with KSR.

“I loved UK. Went down there, it was everything I expected,” Fearbry said. “Not a big town, big city, but it was different. When we were sitting down with the coaches, everybody was coming up and greeting them. It was something new that I never saw, even at Pitt, just going out and going to eat. No one really ever came up to the coaches and said ‘hey,’ so that was a new experience.”

He added, “That was my first SEC campus.”

Feabry mentioned Pitt because that’s where he took his first official visit. Once that trip concluded, Steve Wiltfong was one of three 247 analysts that predicted Fearbry would ultimately choose the Panthers. The scouting service considers him a four-star prospect and the No. 15 edge defender in America.

Pitt has the hometown pull, but their defense cannot compare to Kentucky’s recent success rate with outside linebackers. At one point in 2020 three of the NFL’s top five sackers were former Wildcats.

“A lot of (NFL) outside linebackers come out of Kentucky. That shows what Kentucky can do with me and why I keep Kentucky in consideration,” he said.

“I watch Kentucky. I like the way they play. Just watching them made me really want to consider them, and plus, Bud Dupree was playing for the Steelers, so that’s a big thing. Bud’s been in the league a long time.”
