He is one big quarterback and makes our 2016 recruiting class that much better.

Gunnar Hoak is expected to be UK’s lone quarterback in the recruiting class of 2016 after the Wildcats declined to sign a player at the position in 2015. ESPN considers Hoak to be a four-star prospect and ranks him as one of the top 15 quarterbacks in the class. New UK offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson recruited him while he was on staff at West Virginia, and that recruitment carried over when Dawson got the job in Lexington. Hoak completed more than 65 percent of his passes as a junior for more than 2,500 yards and 30 touchdowns, averaging more than 15 yards per completion. He told the Herald-Leader over the summer that he plans to graduate from high school early and enroll at UK in January so he can participate in spring practice.
