He bleeds blue which helps make great players.

Before his sophomore season started, Quinton Baker already had a scholarship offer from Kentucky — the same school where his father, Al, played running back.

Quinton Baker is a 5-8, 180-pound running back at Ashland Blazer and was back at UK last weekend when the Wildcats lost to No. 1 Mississippi State 45-31. However, for months he had been ready to verbally commit to UK and after watching the team’s performance against the Bulldogs, the junior running back did just that.

“I always thought playing in the SEC championship game would be cool and I could do that if I went to Kentucky,” said Quinton Baker, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds. “I could always tell I liked it and wanted to play there. I am just in love with everything about Kentucky.

“I have always been a UK fan because my whole family has been UK fans. When the recruiting process started, Dad not say a word about Kentucky and did not want to influence me. He said it was up to me to decide and he would support whatever I wanted to do.”

REALLY SMALL FOR A RUNNING BACK.

He is about the size of our own Derrick Locke a few years back who ran for over 2600 yards. It isn't the size of the dog it's the fight in the dog that makes him tough.

I have heard rumors of him moving to wide receiver in college. Maybe a slot guy or a Timmons/Cobb style guy.

If this staff wants him, that is plenty good enough for me. A couple of the most prolific players UK has ever had, Locke and Yeast were small guys.

Cobb was a small guy, that had a heart of a champion and UK couldn't keep him off the field. He got injured his freshman year, switched positions, and was or is leading the NFL this season in TDs.

This is different era for football at Kentucky. This staff has different standards for the players that they will take. They do not settle for the bottom tier players, like the previous staffs. I am telling you, if this staff offered him a scholly, it wasn't because his dad was a former player. It was because if he comes to UK, he makes the team better.

Here is an earlier article. He is a great student, by the way.

Here is a link to some of his highlights. He is just a junior.

Boom, he looks to have the speed and the moves to be a productive SEC running back.

Kid runs 4.3 40. No way in hell you let a kid with that speed go out of state. Well mannered kid as well.

I don't think anyone is insisting he leave the state, or not even be on the team. im just saying IMO. he wont be a running back in the sec, now if he gets up to about 220 pounds, then I will change my mind. But I agree with Ga. Cat hes wide receiver material. catch and run after the catch.
