My own perspective is this is a devaluation of those who fought while carrying the flag into war. It is a symbol of our country and freedom throughout the world. Many fought, many died so this kind of a debate could occur. You have to ask yourself why would it be conspicuously missing? The thread of military families permeate the population. Sad.

All of the candidates want to turn the country into a socialist state, one step away from communism. What is more un American than that? Why should they have the US flag int he background? I am surprised they don't have a bunch of protest flags and the flag of Mexico in the background.

I believe this is the 6th republican debate in 2016 hosted by Fox News and Chris Wallace. I might be wrong about this but I could not see a U S flag in the many views on this site. I may have overlooked it but I don’t think so. IMO, if there is not a U S flag at the debates then it would be the fault of NBC news this year and FOX news then. I sometimes think we look too hard to find fault with those who have different political views than our own.

You make a very good point. They should have had a Flag in the background for the republican debate as well.

I could be wrong, but I am guessing that the those involved in the republican debate weren't promising open borders and free health care for illegals. Maybe I am wrong.

Seriously, though, does anyone recognize the democrat party anymore?

I would like to hear one person defend their platform. Give me a few good reasons why taxpayers should give illegals free health care or why aborting babies at full term is not murder.

Hell boom, I don't even recognize America any more.

PS
I agree with hc...we spend too much time finding fault and virtually no time, it seems, seeking compromise.

Unfortunately, No. They have gone to the extreme left. Unfortunately Republicans are moving to the extreme right in many cases. It seems all that anyone wants to do is play “got ya”, especially are news media.

I don't think the majority of either party are extreme left or right. It's just the extremes make the most noise and get most of the attention

How is wanting to have a secure border against illegal immigrants going to the extreme right?

This country, currently, is =very far left. There should be no EBT food cards, health care, or housing given to illegals. Yet, it happens every day.

Not only am I against hand out to illegals, I believe that anyone who enters this country legally should not be allowed to suck on the government tit for a minimum of 10 years after citizenship.

There are way too many able bodied Americans living off of taxpayers. Nobody is putting a stop to it. Giving handouts to lazy people is not a far right endeavor.

The taxpayers have long funded abortions. That needs to stop. The Trump adminstration is working to defund planned parent hood. Funding planned parent hood is not a far right thing to do.

This country is way far left. If Trump stays in office for a full 8 years, he will have chance to bring it more to the center.

Political correctness (PC) is the work of the far left. The shut down anyone who wants to call a spade a spade. Anyone remember the unisex bathroom push that happened under the Obama years?

Racism is a tool for the left. If a white person does not like anything, they are labeled a racist by the left. Yes this country is racist. The media is racist and the laws are racist. Whites are the ones being discriminated against.

If America took all of its racist laws off the books and mandated that everyone be treated equally, including whites, that would be the fair and decent thing to do. We should identify ourselves as Americans, not some race first and countryman second.

If you kill a woman who is pregnant, you can be charged with a double murder. But in some states, you can kill a baby that has been in the womb for nine months and that is considered legal.

The only far right thing that I see that has happened is some states have passes laws where no permit is required to legaly carry a concealed firearm. I, personally would rather have a permit law, because it mandates that a person take classes.

Where in your mind has the republican party gone hard right?

Only about half the states require training to get a c/c permit.

I don't think permits should be required to carry a weapon. If you can legally own a gun then you should be able to have it with you. A persons right to protect themselves does not end when they leave home.

However, I do support strict ownership laws that include comprehensive background checks and a 30 day "cooling off" period, along with restricting the caliber size for conceal/carry to no more than .32 caliber. All someone needs in public is the ability to get someone off them, not engage in a gun fight...leave that to the police. I'm also in favor of banning assault style weapons to the public in general...they're way too powerful and deadly to be in the hands of amateurs.

I am all for gun rights and have no issue with everyone having a gun or multiple guns, except for felons. That being said, people that buy guns and never learn how to use them, should take a class or two at a gun range or at the very least get a relative or friend to take them out in the country and shoot the fire arm that they have on occasion.
