Sure wish we would see reeves and CJ on the court more together. But Cal seems to feel he can only play 1 shooter at a time for the majority of games.

We should beat this team by 10+, but I have a feeling it may end in a close loss. Hope I'm wrong. That's just where I am now when we play anyone decent. If the players go off we win easily. If it co es down to Cal and his lineups and offense, we lose.

I'm watching the 2nd half now, and we were lucky to win. We ran that stupid Circle play and it NEVER works. We need guys moving in to screens, not just standing there. We almost never get a good screen off of it, and almost never get a good shot. It works some to get Oscar a post up, but that is it. I just watched us take terrible shots as the shot clock ran down and got bailed out by 2 foul calla, and a crazy shot bt Wheeler. Everytime I see us run it the last 5 minutes of a game I flash back to Wisconsin final four loss. Just got bailed out by another foul with 2 seconds on shot clock. We could be so much better if had a different coach. Then Cal is screaming at the players when he really needs to be looking in the mirror. That stupid offense forces players to take forced shots as the clock winds down. He's got to go.

Toppin just picked up a foul for charging and Cal screams at him. But I guarantee Call just told toppin to DRIVE IT. We all know how he loves to scream that. He had an open shot or another pass, but I swear he drove because Cal probably told him to attack the basket.

Well, I took my grand kids to see Santa and his Reindeer. Listening to Tom call most of the game.
Cal needs to do a better job of coaching the free throw line! Oh, I guess either you hit those or you don't . Shoot 70-80% from the FT line and you do win the game by 10.
Wheeler missed at least 3 front end of 1 and 1's.
Hard to have a point guard inconsistent from the FT line when you get in close games down the stretch and you know your opponent is going to foul!

m Hamilton, I also listened to the game as we are traveling to Florida for a few weeks. I think I enjoyed listening more than watching.
I’ll just say this, I thought it was a good win over a pretty good team.
Probably a minority opinion but oh well.

Agree, Handy. A good win over a good team. We didn't run as much of the "circle jerk" offense, more perimeter passing and post passes. It looked better than our past two losses, for sure.
Defensively, we still try to go over screens, and we give waaaay too much room to their perimeter shooters.
Toppin has developed into a legit '3'. Good step-in jumper out to about 20', which really complements his athleticism. He is becoming a serious matchup problem for the opponents.
Cal ran a lot of players in tonight. CJ can't seem to find his shooting touch, but Reeves was an assassin. Wallace was an all-star.

Went out to dinner as the game was starting so came back and watched the recorded version where I could skip the commercials.
All I got to say is I think Wheeler graduated over the summer. The guy calling himself Wheeler this year is almost an entirely different type of player. Just go back and look at all the bad decisions he made today. I was good he found something good to supply at the end of the game, otherwise he could have stayed home. But he has been playing like that all season. And Oscar is starting to make dumb fouls in the games this year. I know he won't have the same totals this year as last year because he is srrounded by better players. But even though most of his games are double-doubles he is not as noticeable this year. Good victory but we shot ourselvesw in the foot too many times.

The players played pretty well overall. Some bad turnovers at times, and too many open looks from 3, but good overall. If you watch the last few minutes though we were lucky to get the win. We went to the circle offense and had to take bad shot after bad shot. Got bailed out on some fouls late in the shot clock, and then Wheeler hit a crazy shot at the end of the clock. That's what I mean when I say we have to win at times in spite of the coaching. Toppin is getting better, and Wallace is a complete stud. I like everything about his game, including his composure. I would still like to see CJ and Reeves on the floor at the same time some. even though CJ is struggling a bit, he may get some better looks with the 2 of them on vs. just 1. That would also space the floor better for some drives and cuts. I was happy to get a win over a power 5 school for sure. Hope we can get opn a nice run and get some really good wins coming up, and beat the easier teams like we should. I think it will be key to get CJ going. If you can have him on the floor with Wallace and Reeves, that is 3 shooters that the defense has to account for. Add in some movement and screens, maybe, and we would be hard to stop on offense.

The guy calling himself Wheeler is looking over his shoulder and seeing real competition for playing time, and that seems to have rattled him a bit.
Wallace is already the better PG at this time, and his upside is incredible.
I think Tshiewbe is the exact same this year as last. He made a lot of silly fouls at the end of the season last year too. But, he has 21 double-doubles in the last 23 games. Hard to say he is getting worse...
VERY glad to see Toppin play within his game. He is a real contributor when he stretches the floor with his legit mid-range jumper, and then runs to the rim for an ally-oop slam.
CJ and Reeves are not featured much... this makes me scratch my head. I would also love to see them both on the floor together. But, with the caveat that they don't just run to the corner and wait. Get some real motion in there from those two, and this offense will take off.
