According to The Athletic reporter Kyle Tucker, CJ Fredrick did NOT suffer a broken leg, which falls in line with what head coach John Calipari announced earlier today.

Bad news on the Kentucky Wildcats basketball front - Iowa Hawkeyes transfer CJ Fredrick has undergone surgery to repair a broken leg, according to Kentucky Sports Radio and Ryan Lemond on today’s edition of KSR.

The details on the severity of Fredrick’s injury are unknown, as is his timetable for return.

Fredrick missed some time last season for the Hawkeyes due to plantar fasciitis in his foot.

In two seasons at Iowa, Fredrick put up 8.8 points per game with a staggering 47% 3-point shooting percentage.

John Calipari shares very positive update on CJ Fredrick
It’s yet another setback for Fredrick, but with details scarce at this point, we won’t know if the sharpshooter will be ready in time for Kentucky’s first game against Duke in November.

In June, Fredrick spoke on his injury-riddled 2020 season:

“It was just something really naggy. I had plantar fasciitis in my left foot and it mentally and physically took a lot out of me. Waking up in the morning trying to take a step and I’m kinda collapsing. That’s tough. I’m trying to practice then play. It took a lot out of me mentally. Just being in the training room all day.”

Here’s hoping he comes back better and stronger. Get well soon, CJ.

The thing I got from Calipari's talk on the news last night that the operation was to correct a past problem. I think it has to do with his foot problem from the past.
