It took a little longer than expected, but Brandon Boston Jr. is starting to resemble the player many Kentucky fans expected to see when the season began.

The Wildcats' highest-ranked freshman and first top-5 prospect since 2015, Boston was leading UK in scoring and reached double figures in nine of his first 10 games but was shooting just 35.9 percent from the floor while making a measly 6 of 35 three-pointers (17.1 percent).

Seeing his NBA Draft stock start to slip, it appeared as though Boston was trying to recover it with every, single shot, bottoming out over a two-game stretch in mid-January, scoring 10 total points while making 4 of 16 shots in back-to-back losses to Alabama and Auburn.

But over his last seven games, Boston has looked like a completely different player, averaging 13.4 points, shooting 41.2 percent overall and connecting on nearly half of his 3s (13 of 28) to go along with 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals.

Boston enjoyed perhaps his best game in a Kentucky uniform in Saturday's 82-80 win over Auburn, scoring 17 points and connecting on 5 of 8 three-pointers with three assists and a career-high four steals to help UK snap a four-game losing streak and avoid a 3-game losing streak at Rupp Arena and the first home loss to the Tigers since 1988.

When it comes to Boston's recent uptick, head coach John Calipari says less is more.

It was great to see Boston knock down those threes, but I'm still not sold on this team turning the corner. They almost blew the lead and had to score 82 points to beat a so-so Auburn team at Rupp. It was a much-needed win, but let's not consider this team a contender just yet. We should be winning these games by 15 points.

That so-so Auburn team averages over 78 points per game. Not saying it was a huge win for us but I'll take a close win over a close loss everyday of the week!

Beating Bruce Pearl is always fun.

Yeah, the look on Bruce's face when the camera scanned him right after they'd gone from 6 points up to a few points down was priceless. You could see it in his eyes that he had seen the momentum swing and wasn't sure how to stop it!
