Monday, Kentucky head coach John Calipari announced that freshman guard Terrence Clarke would miss another four weeks with the foot injury that has already sidelined him for the last 11 games.

Four weeks would likely mean Clarke, who hasn't played since the Louisville game on Dec. 29, would likely miss the rest of the regular season.

His recent waffling on the extent of the injury led some to believe that Calipari was simply covering for Clarke, who had opted out of the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

Following Tuesday's 81-80 loss to Arkansas at Rupp Arena, in which Clarke was courtside in a walking boot, Calipari took a moment to insist that's not the case.

"I want to say this, and I need everybody to listen and our fans to listen: I'm not going to be specific of what's wrong, but he has an injury that he cannot play," Calipari said. "He cried. I cried. Because he's out another four weeks. So it's not like anybody doesn't want to play."

Should Clarke miss the rest of the regular season, that would mean the Wildcats, who played without sophomore forward Keion Brooks for the first nine games, will not have played a single game this season at full strength. Fellow freshman guard Brandon Boston Jr. says Clarke's diagnosis is just the latest round of adversity this team has had to face this season.

"He’s just trying to stay positive through this whole thing," Boston said. "There’s a lot of adversity and hate this year. We just have each other’s backs and tell each other to just smile through everything."

Yeah, smile thru the whole thing. Has the writer of this article looked at the schedule. There are only 6 more games which will take 3 weeks to play. He is DEFINITELY gone for the season. Then we would have a game on 10 March in the SEC tourney and it would all be over. So why not say he doesn't need to come out and sit on the bench anymore because he no longer will play for UK. Will he be recovered miraculously in time for trying out for the NBA? I'll believe this injury when he is not able to try out for NBA teams. Sorry but the whole situation is so clouded from the beginning to the end.
