Someone asked in another post why Jackson played so little last night. Here's is Cal's <excuse>.

Why does he keep mentioning the +/- player rating? Is he trying to be like Billy Bean from the movie Moneyball in deciding who gets playing time? And how the hell would you determine a current +/- during a game? Cal, just play your best damn players!

Jackson is clearly one the few players on this team that should be on the court. He's pro0bably the only player that could've prevented the 34-13 run that UT closed the game with.

I would be fine if he wanted to use an Analytics approach and go all in. The problem is he randomly chooses analytics to try and prove “his” approach.

Analytics tells you that 3 is greater than 2 and you should be shooting 30+ three pointers a game, analytics tells you to play at a faster pace, analytics say that when Allen is on the court UK’s offensive efficiency goes through the roof and the defense rating suffers very little.

Cal chooses to ignore all of those results.

Cal keeps harping about “guys passing up shots”. In the past, he has stated that “they need to make the extra pass”. Well, which is it? I don’t like it that he is screwing with their minds and causing them to take bad shots when they ordinarily would have passed the shot up because they weren’t comfortable with it. Shots should come from the flow of the offense, which is something the team has struggled with this year.

Just think, he has 4 new kids on the block next year to screw over their minds. [Eek!]
