We’re just over a month into the 2020-2021 college basketball season and Kentucky head coach John Calipari has already lined up next year’s major transfer. West Virginia sophomore and preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe has announced he’ll transfer to Kentucky following this year’s season.

Kentucky was in the running to land Tshiebwe coming out of high school, just before he decided on West Virginia as his destination. Now, Big Blue Nation will get to welcome him to Lexington for next year in what is now expected to be a fully loaded front court.

In his first year with West Virginia, Tshiebwe averaged a near double-double of 11.2 PPG and 9.3 RPG. This year, those numbers are slightly down (8.5 PPG & 7.8 RPG) but Tshiebwe still has so much talent to work with. Inserting him at the NBA factory that is Kentucky won’t just be the best decision for his future, but also a significant boost for next year’s Wildcats.
