So as of this morning the selection committee has Michigan State as a #4 seed. Unbelievable. Heck, even laughable. And MSU lost today to go to 16-8. When are people gonna realize that MSU is not that good of a basketball team???

Maybe after today but wouldn't count on it.

I've often wondered this myself. They could lose 10 games and sill be guaranteed a top 4 seed in the Tourney!

Big Ten conference is unbelievably tough. No guarantee wins in that conference this year. No great team but almost all good teams. IMO, Michigan State is a good team but far from a great team.

But 4 of their 5 conference losses are to the bottom half of the conference. They still have five games against the top teams in the conference, and three are on the road. I see them having 11 or 12 losses heading into the NCAA tournament.

Michigan State has always been a media darling. They are by far the Duke of the Big Ten. Drives me crazy!

Tomorrow they play no.22 Illinois and Saturday number 9 Maryland, good luck on that.

Here's something to think about.

MSU was preseason #1 and now they're unranked as of today's poll. The last time the preseason #1 team fell out of the rankings was in 2014. It was the Kentucky Wildcats. And the kicker is - they went on to play in the NCAA Championship game! Go figure.

I’ve had this discussion with more than a few Big 10 fans this year. I actually think the Big 10 is incredibly average this year. I think you have 11 teams that are not capable of making past the the second weekend. So you basically have a bunch of Tennessee’s and South Carolina’s that the media has over hyped because people though MSU, OSU, and Michigan were all Elite early in the season. Turns out they were all average. Penn State is probably the best team in the Big 10 and they are not great.

Huge difference though in my opinion, because UK had all freshmen that were the most talented group of players on any roster that year. They had to learn how to play as a team and how to compete at the college level.

MSU is a veteran team that is not very talented and then Winston who is their most talented has had to deal with his brothers suicide all year. Tough year for him. Prayers are always with him..

I’m an SEC fan first and foremost. I do watch a lot of Big Ten Basketball as that is the part of the country I live in.

This was before Big Ten teams started conference play and began beating the hell out of each other

. The data, analytics, and rankings all have the Big Ten as the best conference in America. The Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings has Ohio State #2, Michigan State #4, Purdue #5, Maryland #7, Michigan #12, Indiana #22, and Penn State #23. That is 7 Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25. The AP Top 25 has Maryland ranked #3, Michigan #4, Ohio State #6, and Michigan State #11. The Big Ten still has opportunities in their non-conference schedule to boost their resume as B1G teams start Big Ten conference play this weekend.

As I said previously, I believe they are full of good teams but no great teams including Michigan State. I’m certainly not a Spartan fan but I still think they are a good team. They were obviously overrated early in the year but so were we.

I fully expect Izzy and company to go into Champaign Illinois tomorrow night and give the #22 ranked team in the nation a spanking.

We will just have to disagree on how good Michigan State and the Big Ten is.

I'm never sold on the Big Ten conference. I vowed a few years ago to never pick MSU to go far in my bracket. Several years ago they were flying under the radar and many analysts were picking them to win it. I jumped on board and had them winning the whole thing and of course they lost in the first or second round. So never again.

I can see an Elite Eight this year without a Big Ten team in it.

I'm not disagreeing that the Big 10 is the best conference this year from top to bottom in an incredibly terrible year for college basketball. I just think they have 11 teams that are between a #8 Seed and a #12 Seed in the NCAA tournament pairings.

I just don't think they have a single team capable of winning 3 games in a row come tournament time. I'm not sure the SEC has any teams capable of that either this year.

As I said earlier. I think this is another year where Coach K gets a title because the level of play sucks in college basketball and Duke will get the necessary calls to advance and win just like 2010 and just like 2015. Oddly enough each of those years Kentucky had the most dominant teams and got upset to leave the door wide open for Coach K.
