The Kentucky Wildcats fell 13 spots to No. 19 overall in the new AP Poll after losing back-to-back games to the Utah Utes and Ohio State Buckeyes this past week. However, they’ll have one more chance before the new year to boost their resume.

This time, it’s against the No. 3-ranked, in-state rival Louisville Cardinals.

As you may very well remember, the Cats have dominated the Cards in basketball in the decade John Calipari has been UK’s head coach. Kentucky only has one loss during that span, and that one was probably a fluke.

However, it looks like the school down the road might have the advantage this time around.

The good news is that Kentucky will return home for this one. The bad news is the Cats are coming off two straight losses. Things aren’t looking pretty right now, but you never know what’ll happen in a rivalry game.

Louisville has a very solid squad, but just like every other team in the country right now, they have their weaknesses.

Kentucky’s guards should be able to run circles around Louisville’s. The big men are basically a wash with a slight edge to UL. But the biggest concern for UK has to be Player of the Year candidate Jordan Nwora.

Nwora can score at will and Kentucky really doesn’t have anyone that can match up with the 6-8 small forward. But, as mentioned above, Louisville doesn’t really have anyone to match up with Ashton Hagans, Tyrese Maxey, and Immanuel Quickley.

74-61 Cats!

I believe this team is going to have turrets all year. One game they can't beat Evansville and the next they beat Louisville.

If we make 6 three's, have 14 or more assists, and either Nick or EJ have a double double (or someone like Maxey goes off) we win. All that being said I'm hoping for a win. Cats 64-61.

I'll take KY, 71-67

Based on past performance, I think we lose by double digits. We are going to have to beat someone before I drink the cool aid. I’ll be so proud to eat these words.

Trust me, it hurts to say this. If my wife cheated with 5 different guys and they formed a basketball team, and played Louisville, I would pull for 5 Guys.

Here's the dumbest prediction ever.

UK 71
UL 78

Not very dumb, Bama. UK can easily find a way to lose this game. It all depends on our guys either getting so up for the game that their energy and enthusiasm carries the day, or we finally find our groove as a team.

I would say neither is highly likely at this point in the season. UofL will also be up for the game, and there has been no evidence that we are any closer to playing well as a team. So, to me, it depends on which team defends better.

If our guards can harass the dickens out of their guards, we just might get enough transition buckets to win this game. I think this may be our only hope

UK 68
UofL 67

All of our losses can really be attributed to one thing - poor shooting. If this team could shoot I'd say we're the clear favorites to win #9. Is today the day we start shooting?

UK 78
UL 69

Maybe it wasn't so dumb after all! I don't believe I predicted the score on the money! Was the use of that pick-up truck up for the winner of this prediction on the line??? [Big Grin] [Razz]

Sorry Bama Cat. Final was 78-70. We both guessed 78-71 but I had Kentucky winning. :-)

Huge win. That's our recipe for wins. We made 7 three's, Richards had a double double, Maxey went off, and we had 12 assists. I said we would need 14. Hopefully this gets us going for the conference schedule.

It SHOULD get CBS to put us back in the top 25!

Free THrow shooting won the game for us yesterday!

Each team had 20 or more FT, UL hit 9-20 and UK hit 21-25.

When it counted in overtime the cream rose to the top and we out-scored the dirty birds 17-9!
