1.National Championship teams must have a good defense.

When it comes to the roster of young talent that will be dressing in the blue and white, length is a strength. A potential starting lineup of Quade Green, Hamidou Diallo, Nick Richards, Kevin Knox, and PJ Washington would mean that four out of the five would present wing-spans of 6-foot-11 or greater. That is some extreme length and size on the perimeter. Kentucky could possibly be putting the best defensive team in the Calipari era on the floor next season.

2.There are options on the bench:

No matter how Coach Calipari organizes his set rotation of players, there will be options on the bench. Bench scoring and improved floor presence on defense from reserves will spell big things for this team. Possible bench options include Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, an athletic guard who can score the basketball as well as Jemarl Baker. Baker is an underrated shooter from California who committed quickly to the Wildcats just a few short months ago.

3.3. Coach Cal has a track record for these types of teams.

This team will draw a lot of comparisons to the 38-1 team that included Karl Anthony-Towns and Devin Booker. With that said, Calipari didn’t actually win the National Title with that team. Why would anyone think he could do it with this team?

The answer is simple. If you have done something for so long, eventually, you will become great at it. Shoot 200 free throws a day, you will become a great free throw shooter. Practice makes perfect right? Same thing goes for John Calipari. This will be Coach Cal’s ninth team at Kentucky. In eight seasons in Lexington, he has continuously molded young players to become one team.

One could say, this may be his best recruiting class in terms of all around game pieces. If he has had practice for eight seasons getting young kids to play as one team, then this season will be no different. Yes, it is difficult to fathom that a team literally filled with Freshmen will make any noise on the national level. But, John Calipari has the track record to do it. If this team can believe in Cal and become one team, there is no reason why they cannot become the next national champions.
