We're almost to the point o signing u guys for the season. Rotating them and hope they all perform and no one gets hurt. Watch them leave and then sign 7 more for the next year. It's starting to look like this recruiting over guys is going to cause problems unless you are a ky boy.

I agree, Handy, but consider the odd case of Skal Labassiere, and before him, the even more strange case of Dakari Johnson. Both went early, nobody thought they should, and both earned handsome paychecks.

Hard to argue with that. A smart man would take the early and easy money, live a frugal life as long as the NBA gravy-train continues, and invest for a life of wealth. Then return to school or do whatever the heck you want to do.

It isn't fair, but then again, who said life was fair?

He has an NBA type body, size etc. I can see some NBA team taking a chance on him. He will never see more than spot duty at UK and I think he now realizes that. Can't say that I blame him. I had felt his volleyball playing girlfriend Brooke Morgan would keep him on the UK campus for at least another year and that still may happen but I seriously doubt it now.

Skal has been playing well the last month for Sacramento averaging 10 points and 7 boards a game. He even had a game of 32 points and 11 rebounds a few weeks ago.

Well said Tip! If I'm not mistaken, even a very low NBA garbage contract will pay you about $800,000. Not bad for a 3 year deal.

I agree. Skal's success at the Kings is exactly what I meant by my comment. He looked lost and almost incompetent as a Cat, and many here said he would be foolish to declare after such a dismal first year. Yet, was drafted in the first round and ]as shown the doubters to be completely wrong.

Dakari? Not so much (Hence, the 'even stranger' case).

But I could see Humphries becoming a good NBA journeyman center, with a decade-long career, if placed in the right circumstance. Or, he could spend a few years in the D-league, and end up playing overseas. Whatever the case, I wish him great success.

With Cal's necessary over recruiting he should go to the draft. He won't get much playing except when needed. He would end up in the D League and may never make the NBA but he still has overseas and that is not chicken feed.

I think Skal and Humphries are not good comparisons

Skal came into the program with tons of athletic ability and was just a wobbly colt, needing experience and muscle.

Humphries is tall and not very fast. He is a good shooter. The difference between him and Skal is that he is a lot slower and can not make up for hesitating. I am not saying Humphries has no shot at the NBA. But, he would be better off trimming his body fat, building muscle, and making his game more fluid at the college level, because I doubt he can get a guaranteed contract in the pros. He could find himself playing in a run down foreign league with no chance to make big money, if he leaves too early.

As far as his college resume, I think he plays way too passive and doesn't get the boards he should for a player of his height. Yes, his final game in the tourney was very positive, but if you look at the whole season, it was disappointing at best.

Actually he just needs to be a really, really good white australian player and he can make the league. He is just good. He needs to add a few really's to his game description. Lose the kid fat, put on muscle, and play without hesitation......which means he needs to play two more years of college
