I hated to see this. I really liked this kid. I thought he was really good. Really good defender and his offense was coming around. I will miss Matthews.

I hate to see him leave too and here is another link about his transfer to Michigan, like ukkid so rightly points out he could play some D.

As a freshman last season, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard appeared in all 36 of Kentucky's games, averaging 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game.

After the season, Matthews underwent minor hip surgery and then announced he would transfer from Kentucky May 18.

Matthews, who was ranked as the 59th overall prospect in the 2015 class according to the industry-average 247Sports Composite, chose the Wolverines over Xavier.

I actually thought he should have gotten a lot more minutes with us this past season. He is very athletic and will probably have a very stellar career at Michigan. He is one I truly hated to see leave UK and was really suprised he made the decision to transfer.

When you don't get the minutes that you think you deserve and with the talented players coming in Matthews had to realize it more than likely would be the same this coming season. He will get minutes at Michigan and would not be all that surprised if he didn't get drafted by a NBA team at some point in the future.

Well even with Matthews leaving and with the new guys coming in Monk, Jackson, Wynard, Fox, and company mixed in with Willis, Briscoe, and I even like Humphries coming off the bench. Im really excited about this years team. I think we will be just fine. Still hate to see him go, but honestly I think it was more of the same for Matthews.
