When I saw this today, I could only think that Mitchell is trying to salvage the program. To his credit, this is not a bad way to do it. A hall of famer with a WNBA title as a head coach, and she has signed on to be an assistant at Kentucky. Nice move!

She has had a great career in both the college ranks and he professional ranks. She is being hired to attract some young freshmen to replace those that left the program. She is somewhere around 65 and will be able to help the program for maybe 5 years but she won't be around much more than that. If the problem is what I was told by an inider I'm not sure why she is needed to correct that problem. If what I was told is false then maybe she is needed to replace the coaches who left. Eother way we shall see if it helps the future.

Bama, I read where she is actually 69 years young, she can help, Mitchell has got himself in a bind and is taking some pretty drastic measures to try to bail himself out I hope it works.

Vandy has already one-upped him. They hired the current coach of the Indianapolis Fever, Stephanie White. She will be an instant sensation.

quote:
White, the Indiana Fever coach, accepted the job of women’s basketball coach at Vanderbilt, IndyStar confirmed Monday night. And she is bringing ESPN analyst Carolyn Peck with her as associate head coach.

Peck was coach of Purdue’s 1999 NCAA championship team for which White was the star player.

She will make a dynamic new duo with Bryce Drew as the new men's basketball coach.
