Good shooters are worth their weight in gold and Walker is a special shooter.

Calipari made his pitch for young Walker, whose stock has continued to rise this spring with his sensational play for Team Final in Nike's EYBL circuit.Kentucky made an official scholarship offer to Walker Wednesday, as did Alabama and Florida State. They join a growing list that last month saw Syracuse, Connecticut and Virginia make offers.National champ Villanova, the first major school to offer Walker - before his sophomore season with the Red Knights - has remained high on Walker's list, as have Oregon, Miami and Stanford. But Kentucky - that appears to take things to another level."My son is excited about it," Lonnie Walker III told 247sports.com. "He's a ballplayer at heart so when a kid hears Kentucky offered, it means something deeper. It lets him know he's among the elite."Walker didn't need any more validation. He was named Pennsylvania's Gatorade Player of the Year and first-team All-State following his junior season at Reading High.Among juniors he is ranked No. 23 nationally by ESPN.com; he's ranked the No. 4 shooting guard nationally and the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania.

The 6-5 Walker is averaging 18.1 points for Team Final, which has appeared in tournaments in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Indianapolis over the past month.Team Final head coach Aaron Burt told SNY.tv's Adam Zagoria last week that Villanova, SMU, UCLA, Oregon and Miami appear to be working the hardest in recruiting Walker."Villanova's been recruiting him very hard," Burt said. "He's wide open. He really doesn't have a favorite at this moment. He's going to just play it out and see what's best for him."Burt said Walker reminds him of a young Ray Allen."He can handle the ball; he can shoot the ball," Burt said. "He makes spectacular plays. Honestly, I think Lonnie is one of the top two or three guards in the country."

If he is like Ray Allen as pointed out in the article he will be a very special player.
