Jamal Murray has scored 59 points in the last two games, one major reason Kentucky had no trouble easily beating Florida and Georgia.

“With guys shooting like we’ve been shooting and everybody’s rebounding like they’ve been rebounding, I think we’ll be fine,” Murray said after the Georgia win Tuesday. “Everybody’s getting better individually every day, so we’re just trying to keep getting better every day.”

That was certainly needed after Kentucky blew a 21-point lead and lost at Tennessee last week.

What changed?

“I’d say we’ve been fighting. We’ve been playing together more and trusting each other more on defense,” Murray said. “That’s our biggest thing. We just communicate a lot more and been focusing a lot. It’s coming down to talking.

“We all know what we’re doing, we all know where we’re supposed to be so if somebody’s not there we just rotate. We’re doing a great job of playing team defensive basketball.”

It's good to see these young superstars thinking about playing defense. This is a lesson learned as "most" college players just thing about offense and scoring points. We have admire our basketball athletes and the instruction they are getting.

I really like this year's team. They're giving it 100% effort, offense and defense, to improve their own game as well as the team.

Team defense wins championships, look at football and the same thing applies to basketball. Your offense can be off but if you play consistent defense, you will stay in most games even when you are not shooting well. Just look at the football championships, Alabama and Denver both had outstanding defenses which won it all for them. Cal is a great defensive coach if the players will just listen to him. I think defense is Cal's strongest coaching trait, he is good all around but is exceptional defensively.

There aren't many who can coach defense like Cal does. During the game poor defense is what really gets him riled. I can imagine what practice is like.

We have kept the opposition to a average of 68.125 points per game.
