Three University of Kentucky men’s basketball signees and the state’s top-ranked women’s basketball recruit were named semifinalists for the Naismith player of the year awards Tuesday.

UK signees Edrice “Bam” Adebayo, De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk are among 10 semifinalists for the boys’ award. The other semfinalists are Lonzo Ball (UCLA), Miles Bridges (Michigan State), Markelle Fultz (Washington), Frank Jackson (Duke), Josh Jackson (uncommitted), TJ Leaf (UCLA) and Jayson Tatum (Duke).

Ron Mercer remains the only UK signee to ever earn the Nasimith player of the year award, winning it in 1995 after his senior season at Oak Hill Academy (Va.)

This year’s winners will be named March 10.

Next years talent is extremely good and we should be a contender from the get go.

As long as we play as a team and not a bunch of talented players we'll make some noise by tourney time!

All college teams that have new players have never played together before and this group is no different. MH, you can bet they will get better as the season goes on. The players Cal recruits are hand picked and he is best recruiter in the country. We are in good hands.
